Pathology v. Ideology
Batfrisch Crazy hit DebCon Red here on Tuesday, when the Debinator reopened her disgraceful Pedophile Playbook. In such times, the only appropriate response is a tranquilizer dart and a large net, or a quick pile-on from our resident Army of Davids.*
Tonight, Dr. Deborah Frisch has a post on her site tonight, lamenting the "big phoquing waste" of Oregonian lives lost in Iraq, she says, "for nada."
I disagree with her. Vehemently. But as SWP posts go, it's not Teh Crazy®. In fact, it's almost eloquent. It's not the sort of post that her former colleagues in academia would find objectionable, unlike her recent and recurring anti-Israel efforts.
Yes, it's Code Pink crazy. It's Kos crazy. But IMHO it isn't Teh Crazy®, that extra-special brand of Batfrisch that made this site possible, and necessary.
One day, our bipartisan task of riding herd on this angel-dusted Eugene Dalmatian will end. I look forward to the day we can invite a rehabilitated Deb to the table, where we can stomp each others' guts out over The Issues like civilized people.
Agree? Disagree?
Discuss.
*(I'm new at this. How do we summon Traffic Santa, anyway? Link-whoring? Puppy Blender references? Interesting content? Saying his name three times in front of a mirror? It's all so confusing.)

Try using her name in every post title, along with words like evil, crazy, stalker, etc.

Maybe we could have a headline contest?
I have to disagree that the post sounded rational. Unless she starts spelling like a grownup and not like some emo-fan writing on MySpace. "phoquing" indeed. Plus, what's this nonsense of hers, comparing some track and field guy dying in a car crash with men dying in war?
Everyone's entitled to be wrong. She's not just wrong, she's mentally untethered. THAT'S what scares me about her.

Ahhh, but there are many, many colors in Deb's "Rainbow of Cray Zee".
Let's not forget that politics is the "peg" upon which she hangs her dunce/jester cap.

Hell, even she attributed her descent into Frischness to Dubya being re-elected ... though judging from the arc her career has taken, she was on the Road to Nowhere long before 2004.
blizzardlane,
I agree that it's not a rational post.
But it struck me that it's irrational in a typically Leftist way, rather than in a uniquely Deb way.
Deb will never be a conservative, moderate, or even "liberal." She'll most likely be on the ideological fringe until she dies.
But right now even the fringiest leftist is as convinced she's off her rocker as the rest of us.
bilgeman,
Absolutely true.
Sadly, her mental state will be judged by whether the MoveOn/SadlyNo crowd embraces or stomps her. Right now, they're stomping.
Deb probably represents a view of final-stage BDS.
I'm sure there are righties that are equally as unhinged. They're just not teaching on the college level.
Deb is a nice case in point for how skewed the academy is. The left likes to sniff that it's the more "educated" side but I think it's because people like Deb couldn't make it in the real world. The fact that until she started menacing the Goldsteins, her online claim to fame was a defense of Ward Churchill" only shows how far out of bounds she's bounced.
I like teh I.D.uh, rabbit~~
Deb Frisch: Still crazy ([Paul Simon impression: "...after all those beers...")
I tend to view Deb's politics as distinct from her mental illness. None of her political babblings that I've read are really much different than anything you might read from other anti-American terrorism enthusiasts such as Noam Chomsky or the Revolutionary Socialist Workers' Party
I'm sure there are righties that are equally as unhinged. They're just not teaching on the college level.
We righties actually have a history of marginalizing our crazies, and it goes as far back as William F. Buckley, who basicallly excommicated the John Birchers from the halls of respectability (i.e. he stopped letting them write for his magazine) back in the late 50s.
In the late 80s (or early 90s), WFB booted a couple of his writers who he felt had strayed from strident criticism of Israel into mere hatred of Jews. I'm not sure I agreed with his assessent at the time, but if you look at the writings of one of those columnists, Joseph Sobran, today, it is obvious that he has slowly but surely descended into right-wing whackdom, and his audience is pretty much down to single digits. So WFB's judgment over time has proven to be correct.
And then there were conservatives in the 90s who were afflicted with CDS (Clinton Derangement Syndrome) that was just about as bad as BDS is today. One CDS suffer, R. Emmett Tyrell, almost destroyed his magazine The American Spectator, in his attempts to dismantle the Clinton presidency. People just stopped listening to him after awhile.
I've never seen any similar purges on the liberal side. Indeed, their motto seems to be "no enemies on the left." The asymmetrical nature of this is such that if you're right wing and unhinged, you are consigned to oblivion. If you are left wing and unhinged, you may find a job in academia.

Oh, Lord. Is there a collection somewhere to buy a Kossack or DU'er a pair of golf spikes?
