Dr. Deb also gives us a textbook example of defamation (Denny please check me on this). Since I don't know Dr. (?) Gilbert, I (as a reasonable man) might assume him to be "pompous, sexist, pudgy", but I can't be used to prove this case because I know the character of the speaker.
Super Secret message to Dr. Deb: I base my opinion of your character on the fact that we both know you have seen the demand for an apology and yet it does not come. I would gladly retract anything about this if you would provide said apology.

What is it with her and "vis-a-vis"? She's used that silly little phrase a dozen times in the last week... I think it popped up 3 times today alone.

I can't even try to read her anymore. With interest from me, her little linguistic games would be simple. When one is just trying to quickly scan for information while making a decision, her games are tedious.

I'm not too concerned about the "defamation" here.
"Pompous" is clearly a matter of opinion, and probably fair comment if he's a public figure.
"Pudgy" is also a matter of opinion, and probably is not derogatory unless his reputation was that of the leanest person on Earth. He's not the world's best fat-burning aerobics instructor, is he?
"Sexist" is definitely derogatory, and probably defamatory. But it is also vague, and usually a mere opinion. What does she mean, and why should I trust her? This is a close question in my semi-buzzed mind (I'm on Deb's schedule). But as an attorney, I would merely write a cease and desist letter to her, and advise him not to pursue it further (unless there are some extenuating circumstances that make the allegation more important than it seems now).
The problem with Deb is that she's too lazy to generate information. She slings insults and recklessly applies labels to people, but gives the reader nothing to base an opinion on. Now, if she supplied "facts" that were false, and based an analysis on those facts that led to "sexist," she'd be in a world of hurt.
My CALIFORNIA (not Oregon) wine suggests that this ain't much to get worked up over.
