I am considering moving this blog to Blogsome because of my frustration with Blogger and now some comments that smilies and such in the comments.

Check out my personal blog for a feature preview.

What do you think? Would you follow?

This thread is ONLY for discussion of a possible move. Previous open thread for normal DHD silliness serious discussion of issues.

Update: Looks like a resounding YES, now taking suggestions for names.

Wherever you move the blog to, the attraction is Frisch.

As long as she freaks, they will find the midway.

G'mornin', peeps.

Sinner -

Put me down as an "aye" regarding the move if that's what you want to do.

[Knock! Knock! Knock!]

[Door creaks open]

"Hi! I'm your new neighbor, Sinner. Would you mind terribly if I borrowed a cup of bandwidth?"

Will I still get to pretend I'm a genius? Or will I be forced to adopt a less esoteric identity?

Like Fred the Schmuck, God forbid.

yep, i'd follow.

At 10:56 AM, Blogger Cthulhu said...

a follow-up thought.

What if we left this place as a focused "Don't hire Deb" information clearing house, and moved to a new location for Tricksy VBS gerbil fun?

Sinner:

Of course I'd follow, but some notes of caution before making the move.

-Does Blogsome support avatars as easily as Blogger? We would lose a lot of the humor of our sockpuppeting if it did not.

-How easy would it be transfer the posts and comments over there? Plus, the new blogger is still in beta, so there might be complications from that.

So, that's all, otherwise I'm not married to staying at blogger at all.

Ok..over the summer I went out and got some sort of life so I missed all of this until today. (That is not supposed to be an insult to anyone.)

Anyway, I have spent today following links of blog wars and ended up on this one. Have read psycho's homepage and then came here to read.

Ok...so I scanned here...and maybe I missed it...but has anyone noticed that this freak calls her home "Camp Kazynksi" ?????

And that she considers herself "just to the right of Kazyinksi" ??? (However you spell his name.)

Certifiable nut job!

Joe's point on avatars is very valid. I will do some research and see if the system supports that before committing.

Sulla's suggestion of building this address into the original DHD mission, i.e. just the facts maam is a very good one. I will set up an autoforward here for a while then move to the info clearinghouse.

Any suggestions on the new name?

I'll throw out vbs.blogsome.com

At 3:17 PM, Blogger Petrarchan Motif said...

Sinner - how about dhd.blogsome.com? Just feels right to me.

At 3:59 PM, Blogger Religious Zealot said...

I would like to add and expand Sulla's suggestion for having the new blog have a "different" focus.

As has been noted, in a very real, pratical sense, DHD IS a redundent "service." Deb has done a much, much better job in ensuring that no one will ever hire her.

That does NOT mean that the original purpose was "wrong" or even "misplaced." I feel it is important to ensure, as much as possible, that Deb (at least until she begins recovery) is kept away from molding young minds.

But even this purpose may be coming to an end fairly shortly.

Combine this with the growth of a real "culture" here, and all of it points to a need to re-vision our purpose.

I wonder if we should keep the initials (DHD) and maybe broaden our focus (Don't Hire Deadbeats) and keep note on various academics (Ward Churchill, etc.)

Or maybe it can just be a "clearing house" for different thoughts.

In might behoove us to keep in mind that most of us here (not all, but most) are conservative, patriotic, intelligent and religious.

So maybe a focus that includes that.

Just food for thought.

This was originally just an idea to move out of blogspot for a more stable web environment.

I like that idea. The rest can grow as we do.

Is just my opinion.

At 4:28 PM, Blogger BrendaK said...

I should clarify - I love that every/anyone can come and chat, start a pissing contest, get technical info, pass on profound knowledge, post poetry that is serious or otherwise, whatever.

I think sinner and sulla have done a fine job of herding the cats.

It's kind of the Wild Wild West of the innertubes and I like the inclusiveness and free-flow environment.

What is wrong with the direction of the blog? If it is only focused on one thing, then it will become as boring as a lecture on decision making.

The free flow of ideas, and the fact that each and every time it is done it has been with great respect of the people and their individual thoughts and beliefs, is one of the ways this is rapidly becoming on of the best blogs on the internet.

There is a very old saying which must apply to this blog, and it's future incarnation at another area...

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
